JFK 50TH ANNIVERSARY WALK – NOV 16TH

Masthead_rev

The Dallas Trekkers Walking Club is hosting a 6K/15K walk which follows the JFK motorcade on its fateful trip to Dealy Plaza and the grassy knoll. The 6K includes motorcade route, JFK memorial, and the basement where Rudy shot Oswald. The longer route will continue to Officer Tippett’s confrontation with Oswald and the Texas Theatre where Oswald was captured.

The start location for this walk is Old Red Courthouse Museum, 100 S Houston, Dallas TX

To participate in either of these events you are required to register at the start.  Registration is anytime from 8:30-11:30 AM.  Registration costs $3.00. You will carry a start card with you and at checkpoints your card will be marked.

This is not a speed competition. You are encouraged to bring along your children and walk/talk and spend some time together enjoying the great outdoors and learn about history.

When you finish (anytime before 2:30 pm) you turn in your start card. If you are an official Volkssporter you will have an Event and/or Distance Record Book. When you turn in your start card you will receive a stamp in your record books.

If you do not as yet have an AVA record book, they will be for sale at the start/finish. Just ask for a new walker’s packet. The packet is $5.00 but it contains three coupons for free registration ($9.00 value) as well as both an Event and a Distance book.

Directions to start:  From I-35E take Exit 428 onto east bound Commerce St and turn right on Houston. Parking on streets (meter) or in lots on right near Union Station (currently $5). Recommend taking DART to Union Station. Old Red is 2 blocks north of Union Station.

Hope to see you there!
