Port LaVaca Walking Event 02/15

Texas County Walkers are hosting this event in Calhoun County.  For information on this club you can visit there website at:  www.walktx.org

The walk starts at Port LaVaca park.  This coastal community walk includes fishing and bird watching piers, cemeteries, Main Street, Civil War historic markers, and the Half Moon Reef Lighthouse.

To participate in this event you are required to register at the start.  Registration is anytime from 9 am – until noon.  Registration costs $3.00. You will carry a start card with you and at checkpoints your card will be marked.

This is not a speed competition. You are encouraged to bring along your children and walk/talk and spend some time together enjoying the great outdoors.  This walk is stroller friendly.

When you finish (anytime before 3:00 pm) you turn in your start card. If you are an official Volkssporter you will have an Event and/or Distance Record Book. When you turn in your start card you will receive a stamp in your record books.

If you do not as yet have an AVA record book, they will be for sale at the start/finish. Just ask for a new walker’s packet. The packet is $5.00 but it contains three coupons for free registration ($9.00 value) as well as both an Event and a Distance book.

Start Point:  Park at 100 S. Commerce St., Port Lavaca, TX 77979.

Driving Directions:  From Victoria take US 87 south to end of Hwy at Main and Commerce. Cross Commerce and continue to small pavilion.  From Corpus take TX 35 North to US 87.  Go right on US 87 and follow directions above.
