This is not a speed event. You are encouraged to bring along your children and walk/talk and spend some time together enjoying the great outdoors.
All are welcome to come walk with us. Both 5K & 10K walks will go around lake on
concrete walking paths, include a nearby shady natural surface trail and go around the ball fields. 10K will also include neighborhood streets, another shady trail, and sections of grass and will pass the Dowell House which was built in 1870 and was where much of the original “Benji” movie was filmed and another walking trail.

START TIME: 6:00 am to 8:30 am. Walkers must be off trails by 11:30am
This is a Volksmarching event and you need to register to get a start card. We request a $3.00 donation to help defray the cost of hosting the event.
When you finish (anytime before 11:30) you turn in your start card. If you are an official Volkssporter you will have an Event and/or Distance Record Book. When you turn in your start card you will receive a stamp in your record books.
If you do not as yet have an AVA record book, they will be for sale at the start/finish. Just ask for a new walker’s packet. The packet is $5.00 but it contains three coupons for free registration ($9.00 value) as well as both an Event and a Distance book.

From Dallas or Plano: Go North on US 75 (Cntral Expressway) to TX-359-Spur Louisiana/FM-3038/Virginia Parkway in McKinney. DO NOT TAKE EXIT 39 or
39A to Parkview Ave if there are still signs. THIS IS NOW CLOSED! Continue to Virginia Pkwy/West Virginia St (.5 miles) *currently exit 40A but due to construction, it may be changed or may be missing*. At light turn Right on Virginia Parkway/West Virginia to Wilson Creek Parkway (.3 mile). First light (past DQ) turn Right on
Wilson Creek Parkway. Go through stop signs (Rockhill Rd & Parkview Ave); continue to 1405 Wilson Creek Parkway (appx 1 mile). Start will be on your right. Enter at 2nd entrance near ball field; brick sign–Wilson Creek Baseball/Softball Complex.
