The Randolph Roadrunners club is hosting this event. The Land Heritage Institute is located in south Bexar County on the southern bank of the Medina River. It is a1,200 acre preserve with 18 miles of hike/bike/equestrian trails all within 10 miles of downtown San Antonio inside Loop 1604 south.
The walk route is on natural surfaces (mulched surface and grass) in an
undeveloped area. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended.
Start/Finish point and registration will be 1349 Neal Rd., San Antonio 78264
START TIME: Anytime between 8:00am-Noon Must be finished by 3:00 PM.
This is a Volksmarching event and you need to register to get a start card. We request a $3.00 donation to help defray the cost of hosting the event. There will be a 5K and 10K option.
Directions to Walk Location: From I-35 exit 149 at Poteet/PaloAlto Road (Hwy 16). Turn Left (south) on Poteet Jourdanton Fwy (Tx-422 spur) intersection. Proceed south on Poteet Jourdanton Fwy/Hwy 16 past loop 410. Turn Left (east) at light on Lone Star Pass/ Watson Rd and proceed to Applewhite rd. Turn Right (south) at light on Applewhite Rd. Cross Medina River bridge. Turn Left on Neal rd. and look for a pair of gates on the Left side.
If you are interested in collecting a stamp for doing this event there will be “New Walker Packets” for sale at the start. They cost $5.00 but they contain three walk coupons inside worth $3.00 each so it is a bargain.
