East Texas Walking Event on Oct 5th

The Irving Star Trekkers are hosting this in Paris, TX.  Along the route there are antique shops to browse through and historical homes to view!  Walk passes the courthouse square with the Culburtson Fountain.  Walk also includes the Evergreen Cemetery whose claim to fame is the Jesus statue wearing cowboy boots;  the Paris Junior College campus; and some of the Trail de Paris hiking trail.  You will be able to view one of the world’s largest Eiffel Towers, complete with a Texas sized cowboy hat!

Start/Finish point and registration will be at the Old Railroad Depot, 1125 Bonham St., Paris, TX.

START TIME:  8:00-Noon.  Must be finished by 3:00 PM.

This is a Volksmarching event and you need to register and get a start card. We request a $3.00 donation to help defray the cost of hosting the event.  There will be a 5K and 10K option.

Directions to Walk Location from Dallas:  Take I-30 East, Exit the Paris and Texas A&M Commerce Exit (#24/50) East of Greenville,  Stay on 24 for approximately
50 miles to Loop 286.  After Loop 286 which surrounds Paris, Texas.  24 will become Church Street.  Continue on Church Street and turn LEFT onto Lamar Ave. Drive past the Town Square for a short distance and look for the Old Railroad Depot on your left.

If you are interested in collecting a stamp for doing this event there will be “New Walker Packets” for sale at the start. They cost $5.00 but they contain three walk coupons inside worth $3.00 each so it is a bargain.
