San Marcos Shop for Books Walk (10K)

The  San Marcos River Walkers are hosting this event on Saturday April 5.  Walk will go along San Marcos River and through adjacent neighborhoods. There will be a book sale going on at the start location.

Start/Finish point and registration will be at City of San Marcos Recreation Hall, 170 Charles Austin Drive, San Marcos, TX.

START TIME: 8:00-Noon.  Must be finished by 3:00 PM.

This is a Volksmarching event and you need to register to get a start card. We request a $3.00 donation to help defray the cost of hosting the event.  There will be a 5K and 10K option.

This is not a speed event. You are encouraged to bring along your children and walk/talk and spend some time together enjoying the great outdoors.

When you finish (anytime before 3:00 PM) you turn in your start card. If you are an official Volkssporter you will have an Event and/or Distance Record Book. When you turn in your start card you will receive a stamp in your record books.

If you do not as yet have an AVA record book, they will be for sale at the start/finish. Just ask for a new walker’s packet. The packet is $5.00 but it contains three coupons for free registration ($9.00 value) as well as both an Event and a Distance book.

Directions to Walk Location:  From I-35 take Exit 205 (TX80/TX142/TX21/Bastrop/ Luling).  Stay on the access road to the traffic signal/overpass and turn northwest on E Hopkins St. (this will be a right turn if you’re coming from Austin, or a left turn under the underpass if you’re coming from San Antonio). Proceed on E Hopkins St, cross the first railroad crossing, pass the HEB and cross the second railroad crossing. At the Walgreens turn right at the traffic signal onto Charles Austin Dr and pass the Bobcat baseball stadium. Immediately after crossing the third railroad crossing, turn left onto City Park St and follow it to where it ends at the City Park Recreation Hall.
