Allen, TX Walking Event – Saturday, October 25, 2014

Both the 5K and the 10K routes will walk by Allen’s Historic attractions, such as the Allen Heritage Center, Interurban Depot & downtown Allen and will include the south end of the Allen Station Park where the walk will continue inside The Edge Skate Park. This park includes roller-hockey rinks and a BMX track. The continues to the Allen Heritage Village where there are several of Allen’s oldest remaining homes and outbuildings. The annual Civil War reenactment will be taking place to mark the anniversary of the “War between the States.”   The 10k route will continue around Allen Station Park to include The Hydrous Walk Park and the Baseball/Softball fields and will continue to the historic Stone Dam built in 1874.

This is not a speed event. You are encouraged to bring along your children and walk/talk and spend some time together enjoying the great outdoors.  All are welcome to come walk with us.

Start/Finish point and registration:  Allen Cafe, 302 East Main St, Allen, TX.

START TIME: 8:00 – 11:00.   Walkers must be off trails by 2:00 p.m.

This is a Volksmarching event and you need to register to get a start card. We request a $3.00 per person donation to help defray the cost of hosting the event.

When you finish (anytime before 2 p.m.) you turn in your start card. If you are an official Volkssporter and have an Event and/or Distance Record Book you will receive a stamp in your record books.

If you do not as yet have an AVA record book, they will be for sale at the start/finish. Just ask for a new walker’s packet. The packet is $5.00 but it contains three coupons for free registration ($9.00 value) as well as both an Event and a Distance book.

Directions to Walk Location:   Take US-75 (Central Expressway) North to McDermott Dr. (FM2170 exit 34). Go left at S Cedar Dr and take a right on E Main Street to the Cafe. Start Point starts outside on the southeast side of Cafe and faces First Baptist parking lot. Parking at First Baptist Church, southeast corner of Cedar & Main St.
