The Randolph Roadrunners are hosting a 5k walk and a 10k walk next weekend.  This is a wide, flat, paved trail that will go west through Hardberger Park toward Huebner Rd.  The walks are in the area near the confluence of Panther Springs Creek and Salado Creek, now known as Walker Ranch Historic Landmark Park.  The park area was a favored campsite revisited over thousands of years by hunting and gathering peoples apparently attracted by the availability of crucial resources such as water, plants, animals and lithic or stone materials.

To participate in either of these walking events you are required to register at the start.  Registration is anytime from 8 am – until Noon.  Registration costs a mere $3.00. You will carry a start card with you and at the checkpoints your card will be marked.

This is not a speed competition. You are encouraged to bring along your children and walk/talk and spend some time together enjoying the great outdoors.

When you finish (anytime before 3 pm) you turn in your start card. If you are an official Volkssporter you will have an Event and/or Distance Record Book. When you turn in your start card you will receive a stamp in your record books.

If you do not as yet have an AVA record book, they will be for sale at the start/finish. Just ask for a new walker’s packet. The packet is $5.00 but it contains three coupons for free registration ($9.00 value) as well as both an Event and a Distance book.

Start Point:  Trailhead at 871 W. Rhapsody Drive, San Antonio, TX

GPS:  29.5541,-98.5028

Hope to see you there!
