The Hill Country Volkssportsverein is hosting its popular Easter walks (5K/10K/18K) on Saturday. This event is best known for its Easter egg hunt along the walk routes. A limited number of large, colorful Easter eggs will be hidden on the left side of the walk routes. (One egg per walker, please). A traditional tasty breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase at the registration area.
Come join them for their annual trek through the Village of Comfort (established in 1854 by German settlers). Admire century old architecture and stroll the surrounding countryside. The routes are all on pavement. The shorter routes have gentle inclines, with increased elevation changes on the 18K route.
To participate in any of these walking events you are required to register at the start. Registration is anytime from 8 am – until Noon. Registration costs a mere $3.00. You will carry a start card with you and at the checkpoints your card will be marked.
This is not a speed competition. You are encouraged to bring along your children and walk/talk and spend some time together enjoying the great outdoors.
When you finish (anytime before 3 pm) you turn in your start card. If you are an official Volkssporter you will have an Event and/or Distance Record Book. When you turn in your start card you will receive a stamp in your record books.
If you do not as yet have an AVA record book, they will be for sale at the start/finish. Just ask for a new walker’s packet. The packet is $5.00 but it contains three coupons for free registration ($9.00 value) as well as both an Event and a Distance book.
