Pavillion in Centennial Park

Pavilion in Centennial Park

There will be a 5K and a 10K trail option.  The trail is on paved trails and city sidewalks in the Heritage District of Old Irving. Walk through downtown Irving, Centennial Park, and one of the best Veterans Memorials in the state of Texas.

To participate in either of these walking events you are required to register at the start.  Registration is anytime from 7 am and 10 am. Must be finished by 1 pm.   Registration costs a mere $3.00. You will carry a start card with you and at the checkpoints your card will be marked.

You are NOT required to be an AVA member to participate.  Everyone is welcome to come and walk with us.

When you finish (anytime before 1 pm) you turn in your start card. If you are an official Volkssporter you will have an Event and/or Distance Record Book. When you turn in your start card you will receive a stamp in your record books.

If you do not as yet have an AVA record book, they will be for sale at the start/finish. Just ask for a new walker’s packet. The packet is $5.00 but it contains three coupons for free registration ($9.00 value) as well as both an Event and a Distance book.

Start Point: South Irving Library, 601 Schulze Drive, Irving, TX 75060

Directions:  From the west on Hwy 183 (Airport Freeway), exit O’Connor Blvd and turn right (south) or from the east on Hwy 183, exit O’Connor Blvd and turn left (south). Turn right on Irving Blvd (1 block after crossing under the railroad tracks). Turn left on Sowers Rd (next stop light). Stay in the right lane and continue through the next stop light to the parking lot on your left (South Irving Library is on the right).

It will be hot so it will be best to walk early and to drink lots of water.   Hope to see you there!
