Houston Buffalo Bayou Walk (10K) – 02/20/2016

Walk Starts Here.

Walk Starts Here.

The Houston Happy Hikers are hosting this event and would like everyone to come join us.  You do not have to be a club member to participate.

Buffalo Bayou

Walking Trail along Buffalo Bayou

The walk route is along Buffalo Bayou.  The area between Shepherd and Sabine Streets  is a favorite with Houstonians for outdoor fun.  It has been revitalized and transformed into Buffalo Bayou Park.  There are some great views of the downtown skyline.  Some of the trail is along streets while others make it hard to believe you are almost in the heart of the fourth largest city in the U.S.

Start/Finish point and registration will be at Hickory Hollow Restaurant, 101 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX.

START TIME: 9:00-Noon.  Must be finished by 3:00 PM.

This is a Volksmarching event and you will need to register to get a start card. We request a $3.00 registration fee to help defray the cost of hosting the event.  There will be a 5K and 10K option.

This is not a speed event. You are encouraged to bring along your children and walk/talk and spend some time together enjoying the great outdoors.

When you finish (anytime before 3:00 PM) you turn in your start card. If you are an official Volkssporter you will have an Event and/or Distance Record Book. When you turn in your start card you will receive a stamp in your record books.

If you do not as yet have an AVA record book, they will be for sale at the start/finish. Just ask for a new walker’s packet. The packet is $5.00 but it contains three coupons for free registration ($9.00 value) as well as both an Event and a Distance book.

Directions to Walk Location:  From I-10: Exit Heights-Yale Exit. Left on Heights Blvd. approximately mile to Hickory Hollow Restaurant on the right just after crossing the railroad tracks.

Hope to see you there.

Come early and stay for lunch.  The restaurant opens for dining at 11:00.
