Dublin 5k/10K and Car Show – 09/14/2019

On this date there will be a 5K/10K Event in conjunction with an antique car show.  Here is a flyer I found online:

The Hood County Hummers of Granbury, Texas are hosting a Traditional Event Walk in Dublin, Texas on Saturday, September 14, 2019. Come join us for a 5k or 10k in this quaint town. Dublin is located in southwestern Erath County about two hours south of the DFW Metroplex, one hour east of Abilene, and two hours northwest of Austin. The walk is open to the general public. Newcomers are welcome!

5k/10k REGISTRATION & START is between 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. FINISH time for the walk will be no later than 2 p.m. Walkers must be off the trail and start cards turned in by 2 pm. Registration will be at W.M. Wright Historic Park located at the corner of W. Highway and Park Street in Dublin, Texas. Both the 5k and 10k walk routes begin at the park. Walking directions will be provided at the sign-in table. Restrooms are available at the start/finish area. $3.00 fee includes TVA/AVA achievement stamps.

The City of Dublin will be hosting an antique car event on the same date as our walk. What a great opportunity to participate in and enjoy the activities of the community!

Dublin was founded in 1854 by A.H. Dobkins and named in 1860 for its founder or possibly a conflation of the term “double in,” a warning cry settlers used during frontier conflicts. In 2005 Governor Rick Perry signed a bill designating Dublin the official Irish Capital of Texas. It is a small Texas town rich with history as can be found in the local museums: Dublin Historical Museum showcases the historic community; Ben Hogan Museum honors the legendary golfer who lived in Dublin as a child; and Dublin Rodeo Heritage Museum features rodeo memorabilia featuring Gene Autry and Everett Colborn.

Dublin Bottling Works bottled Dr. Pepper for 120 years and is one of the world’s oldest soft drink bottling plants. It continues to produce a robust line of pure cane sugar sodas. Old Doc’s Soda Shop display a huge collection of soda mementos and also where we can stop in for fountain drinks, sandwiches and ice cream.
